Up In The Sky Partners with Dulux to Transform Royal Diamond Orphanage for Children’s Day

In a move to shift the narrative from surface-level celebrations to tangible social impact, creative agency Up In The Sky (UITS) has completed a comprehensive physical transformation of the Royal Diamond Orphanage Home courtyard. The initiative, themed “Colours of Play: Every Child Can,” reimagines the orphanage’s outdoor space as a vibrant, inclusive environment designed to spark joy and connection for children aged 2 to 18.

The project addressed a critical concern; the orphanage’s front yard had lost its vibrancy over the years, feeling more like a sterile car park than a playground for children seeking refuge. To rectify this, the UITS team—supported by official colour partner CAP Plc (Dulux Spruce)—physically executed a 64.2 square meter transformation of the courtyard. Staff members rolled up their sleeves and took on the task of painting transformation with great enthusiasm.

The newly minted “Play Zone” features:

  • Floor Games: Vibrant, high-durability paintings of Suwe (Hopscotch), Twister, and Tic Tac Toe game.
  • Interactive Murals: A multi-coloured wall art featuring handprints to maximize vertical play potential and a butterfly graffiti wall.
  • Sustainable Gear: Play structures, including seesaws and riding gear, crafted from recycled tires and wood.

Speaking on the project, Habib Lawal, Senior Brand Manager, Dulux Paints said “At Dulux, we believe in the power of colour to change lives. Partnering with Up In The Sky allowed us to be the literal fabric of this transformation, providing the high-durability, vibrant paints needed to turn a grey courtyard into a world of imagination. We are proud to help ‘Paint the Future’ for these resilient children.”

Also speaking on the transformed space, Favor Ogunyemi, Executive Director, Royal Diamond Orphanage “Every child deserves an environment that allows them to experience freedom and connection without restriction. For many years, our front yard lacked the vibrancy our children needed. This transformation gives our children—many of whom have escaped difficult backgrounds—a safe, functional space to just be children again.”

Oje Ojeaga, CEO/CCO, Up In The Sky, in reflecting on the rationale for the social impact project said, “This project is a logical progression of our decade-long support for Royal Diamond Orpahange. We wanted to move beyond simple donations to organic engagement where the value to the children is visible and functional. Our goal was to provide the environment so the children could provide the magic, creating a scalable model for play zones across the country.”
